Kvitbrakka - Residency in Norway

The themes for this year open call:

> Post-fishing industries and alternative futures for fishing communities

> Renewable energy production in a rural and remote areas,  its use and allocation

> Changes to ocean environments such as global warming and invasive species

> Political climate in the warming Arctic 

The resident artists will be required to: create a workshop, performance, exhibition or artist’s talk for the community of Berlevåg during their residency.

Who can apply?

Kvitbrakka is welcoming artists working in painting, sculpture, performance, film, photography, music, text, research, relational aesthetics and/or installation. In selection process, a priority will be given to the candidates who express a clear motivation for their stay in Berlevåg and/or project relevance for the local society.

What we offer?

 

- 5000+ NOK for travel expenses (extra artist fee will be disclosed in the beginning of 2023)

*Kvitbrakka can provide an applicant with a letter to apply for an additional funding

- free accommodation and workshop space at Kvitbrakka for the duration from 1 to 3 months (please note we do not offer short term residencies - under 2 weeks). The space consist of 3 furnished bedrooms (suitable for 6 people), shared bathroom with underfloor heating, fully equipped kitchen, a work space of 100㎡ and an exhibition space of 60㎡.

- Berlevåg Havnemuseum is interested in acquiring art works in their contemporary art collection.
