Boom Studios is proud to boast a range of classes suitable for all ages and abilities. Many of them are ideal for gifting; either as a single place or as an activity for some quality time together. With Mother’s Day coming up this month, we thought we’d put together some gift ideas from our Creative Days programme.

Art for the Heart with Oonagh Linden
Oonagh is one of our resident studio artists and also an qualified art therapist and yoga teacher. This class is one of our long-standing staples, focusing on art as a source of mindfulness, a calm and relaxing way to explore techniques and use of alternative materials. Saturday 18th March, AM
Life Drawing with Life Drawing Bangor
Join Louise and a friendly group of weekly regulars & newcomers on a Monday night, or the longer Saturday monthly session (Sat 18th, afternoon). Louise, or sometimes a guest model will undertake a series of poses, from short warm up sketches to longer studies. Generally clases feature a nude model however the monthly Saturday session begins with a clothed hour, which can be booked separately and is ideal for school-age students wishing to build a portfolio. All abilities welcome.
Abstract Art & Intuitive Painting Techniques
Weekly on Tuesday evenings as well as a longer monthly class, Les provides a fun guided session using a different technique or method each time.
A great class for artists looking to explore or experiment with colour, alternative mark-making and a bit of lateral thinking.
Field Sketchbook Walks with Jenni Robinson
Meet up at Boom for a cuppa and to chat about your sketchbook intentions for the session before heading out on a short local walk for a morning of observational drawing. Next class Sat 25th March.
Teaching you to experiene the live environment and develop your techniques to translate that in to imagery and mark-making, these guided walks are ideal for those looking to develop original source material, or an experimental visual practice as well as honing drawing and compositional skills. Equally, anyone simply wishing to get outside in creative company is most welcome! Suitable for all abilities.
Macrame with Nodo Knots
Claire will guide you through the knots and technique to make this gorgeous pieces, using recycled cotton cord and locally gathered accessories.
All materials are provided, and no experience is needed. Next class Sunday 26th March.
Jewellery Making with Gabriela
Not technically in March, but how could we not sneak in the next jewellery-making session on 1st April - what a great gift! Not only an afternoon of enjoyment, but a piece of hand-crafted jewellery as well.
