it’s all about august! creative peninsula, craft month, open house festival and seaside revival… bangor is jam-packed with creative activities and events. boom has various items in the festival programmes, and some extra fringe events in the studios to add to our city’s festival atmosphere. check out our listings and links below!
2nd Aug: Bangor Art Tour & Tipple
Starting at North Down Museum, this Creative Peninsula event will visit Boom to tour some art studios and meet local makers. Enjoy refreshments before continuing on tour and taking part in an art activity at Seacourt. Book via Creative Peninsula here, £12
4th Aug: Crafts at Creative Peninsula Twilight Market
Visit us in Conway Square, Newtownards to take part in our popup craft stations at this fabulous makers market. We will have Peninsula themed activities including pin badge making, postcard printing and themed shape decoration. £ Free, details here
5th Aug: Family Fun at the Courtyard
Join Nodo knots for macrame, Waveform Media for digital art or Carla Hodgson for rock painting in this family friendly craft popup in the North Down Museum courtyard. Outdoor session, weather permitting. £ Free, details here
11th Aug: Heritage Sketchbook Exhibition Launch
Studiomate Jenni Robinson received a Heritage Grant from Ards & North Down Borough Council, in order to lead a group of 10 people on sketch walks around our pre-redevelopment waterfront. The resulting sketchbooks are going on display for 2 weeks at Boom Studios, before being donated to the North Down Museum for archive/further display. This is the launch night: top floor, in the small gallery next to the Workshop, 7-9pm.
11th Aug: Popup Creative Days Exhibition
A mega-popup of work from the past 12 months of our Creative Days workshops. 7pm, top floor at Boom, see social media for details beforehand.
12th - Open Studios @ Boom
Open house at Boom Studios - come and visit us to see the studios, learn about our Creative Days workshops and chat/watch/buy from our resident artists! See social media for details.
