Get Outdoors

Optimistically welcoming Spring, we have some opportunities for you to be creatively inspired outdoors!

Jenni’s Sketch Walks return on 23rd March, featuring a trip to the Walled Garden.  BYO materials, or borrow some from the studio, and enjoy a cuppa and a bake whilst we chat about our sketching process and get to grips with some practice exercises. We will then walk over and enjoy an hour or two sketching the Spring flora and fauna of this beautiful site. U18s welcome with an accompanying, participating adult.

Why not double it up for the afternoon and join the Landscape Painting workshop - back in the studios?

Carla is back with this month’s Street Art Walking Tour - don’t forget to put your clocks forward to join in on Sunday 31st March. 

Messy Mornings presents Wee Birds at WWT Castle Espie on 14th April - a very special “Experience Ards & North Down” event. Although the craft is indoors, a wetlands site admission for the child is included with each ticket.

In the workshop

Claire from Nodo Knots runs a monthly macrame workshop, Sunday 24th March. This month is Spring Wreaths.

Messy Mornings has an Easter themed eggstravaganza on Monday 25th March - come along to our messy play session with your tots & toddlers to create giant easter eggs!  This session is designed so that older brothers and sisters can join in if they are already off school. 

There are lots of opportunities to practice life drawing, with weekly Monday evening sessions.  These feature a nude model however the monthly Saturday session has an extra, clothed hour which is available to book for younger art students as well.

Les returns with both his weekly evening Abstract Art workshop on Tues 2nd April, and the longer Saturday session on 6th.

Special Events at Søstrene Grene

Thursday evenings from 21st March to 4th April see the return of our seasonal workshops at Søstrene Grene Bangor.

Watercolour easter cards, mini wreaths and drawing skills are the order of the day and these are filling up quickly!  Secure your place here and don’t forget - each class is followed by an exclusive 20% discounted private shop!

Arts Night @ The Museum - Friday 22nd March

Boom Studios is excited to be involved in this great evening of culture.  Visit us at North Down Museum, Castle Park, Bangor from 6-8pm on Fri 22nd March to try your hand at sketching in the gallery, metal stamping, effects makeup, window painting, digital art and macrame. More info here!
