Les Sharpe

As a Studiomate…

Les has been a full-time Artist since 2005, with early representational work being very much inspired by local landscape. Thereafter, he has evolved towards a more contemporary, multi-media, abstract and experimental approach that emphasises colour, texture and form.

The emphasis for his work now is derived from the pure pleasure of the actual process of producing aesthetic pieces. While incorporating a wide range of conventional mediums, He also includes organic materials such as poppy seeds to create more exotic textures. He will also make use of found and donated objects to create otherworldly landscapes, inspired by science fiction and fantasy.

Many of his original paintings and prints hang in private collections around the world including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, Spain, USA and of course, Ireland and the UK.

As a Workshop Facilitator…

Les runs the Abstract Art classes in the Creative Days programme at Boom.

Weekly on a Tuesday evening, and with a longer monthly session on the first Saturday of the month, abstract classes are one of the longest-running sessions of the programme with a dedicated following and new participants always made most welcome.
